Russell Lyons began practising as a lawyer in London in 1993. Russell joined Middletons Moore & Bevins in April 2000 after stints with Herbert Smith in both London and Hong Kong and Allen Allen & Hemsley in Sydney. Russell holds an honours degree in accounting and commerce and a master of laws degree.

Russell is one of a select few corporate lawyers who is also a qualified chartered accountant, having previously worked for Price Waterhouse. Russell's grasp of the financial and taxation landscape in which legal issues must be resolved has made him a sought-after corporate legal adviser.

Russell's main areas of expertise include:

• Takeovers, mergers and acquisitions advice
• Corporations Law and Listings Rules advice, IPO's and capital raising
• Setting up, structuring and exiting venture capital and private equity investments
• Corporate structure including joint ventures, management buyouts, reductions in capital and structured financing
• Advice on reorganisations in the context of financial stress, particularly work-outs, Deeds of Company Arrangement and Court Approved Schemes
